About this location
Jane Jones' Little Club was one of Los Angeles’ earliest and most notable lesbian nightclubs, operating from 1936 to 1939. Former vaudeville star Jane Jones owned and operated the club. She was a large woman with a basso profundo voice. The club attracted a well-dressed crowd of Hollywood figures alongside local lesbians who watched male impersonators perform. Its run ended abruptly on September 2, 1939, when the Los Angeles County Sheriff's vice squad raided the club and arrested staff. Two months later, the club's liquor license was revoked and it closed.
