About this location
British lesbian party promoter Caroline Medlen (also known as Caroline Clone) began hosting lesbian parties like Solo and Cherchez L.A. Femme in 1984, soon after she arrived in Los Angeles. She was particularly well known for her Wednesday night series Whispers at 836 N. Highland Ave. In 1989 she co-purchased the bar and restaurant Palette in West Hollywood, where she held events such as Club UK, Code Blue, and Caroline’s T-Dance. LA Weekly reported on her disputes with the other owners, and local papers stop mentioning her role there after 1990.
