About this location
The Garage was a diverse gay bar on the northwest corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Virgil Avenue, from August 1995 to November 2003. It was known for hosting Club Sucker (1994–1999), a weekly event produced by Black trans artist Vaginal Davis. Event promoter Vanessa Craig remembered the scene at the bar as kinky, leather focused, and featuring lesbian bands and live music.
